Chamber Newsletter - 3rd September 2014

Chamber Updates

In September, just like the start of a new school term, we plan to hit the ground running. Our aim is always to move forward positively and strongly.

With new recruitment leaflets to distribute, we hope to raise the profile of Chamber of Commerce and attract new members. The bigger we can grow as the voice for business, the more we can achieve for our members in the area. PLEASE REMEMBER, the Chamber’s income is ONLY from membership subscriptions and everything we do as a Committee is in voluntary time for our members.

What we have achieved so far.

  • Open Chamber meetings to which non-members and local councillors are invited to talk business.
  • Engagement with Schools and the Young Enterprise Scheme as the start of our Junior Chamber.
  • Established local business mentors to help start-up enterprises.
  • New breakfast meetings and monthly networking events.
  • Free help-lines for initial legal advice.
  • A regular column in St. Austell Voice to promote our members’ news.
  • For our members, £50 off Cornwall CoC membership fee.

What we are working towards.

  • Cheaper Parking Charges for St. Austell Town Centre.
  • Free business training courses for members
  • Surveying the business needs of our area in order to keep our leaders and decision makers fully informed of the bigger picture.
  • St Austell’s business community to be better represented through Cornwall CoC, Cornwall Councillors and the LEP (Local Enterprise Partnership).
