  1. Amendments to Constitution – Mike Stanford

Two items are changing on our Constitution.  We have done away with the role of Junior Vice Chair so this has been omitted from the new Constitution.  The second item is that the Constitution said that the AGM would be in May, so this has been amended to say March.

The new Constitution will be placed on our website for all to see. Please can you all review it and then we will vote it in at the next Meeting.

  1. To consider and vote on any proposals properly raised of which not less than 21 days’ notice has been given in writing

At the last Management meeting the membership fee structure was discussed.  We tried a new structure last year and it hasn’t worked for us. It’s been difficult to manage so we have decided to revert back to a more simple £36 fee for everyone, regardless of the size of your business.  This is the notice to discuss ‘changes in membership fees’ at the next Open meeting.

      10. Cornwall Business Fair at the Eden Project, May 11th 2016

Last year we had a stand at this event and it got us several new members and was a very successful day.  But last year the cost of the stand was £100 and we had a great location. This year the cost of the stand is £358 and by the time the team had discussed it the best locations were taken.  Anne Chapman, Constituency Manager for Steve Double MP and SABEF (St Austell Bay Economic Forum) have reserved a whole room and have said that we can ‘loiter with intent’ free of charge.  Mike has accepted this offer. Next year we will get in earlier and consider the cost if we can reserve a great position.

Mike asked for volunteers on the day – Steve Daniell, Jane Hicks, Annette Miller, Melanie Evans, Ian Chalmers and Jacky Swain all volunteered. If you would like to assist us on the day, then please email the Chamber secretary.

     11. Bishop Fleming meeting and lunch at Porth Avallen Hotel, Carlyon Bay. Thursday 17th March. 12 noon until 2pm.

Bishop Fleming are running a 2 hour event in which they dissect the previous days Budget and analyse it for you, breaking it down so that you can see how you all may be affected by it.  Please see our website for more details.

      12. Any Other Business:

Brian Palmer, Mayor of St Austell would like to Thank everyone in the Chamber for supporting the Mayors Charity. He would also like to thank the Chamber for building a great partnership alongside other groups in town.

Imerys are holding its eco-town open days this weekend (19th and 20th) at the West Carclaze site. They will have an exhibition of their revised proposals for the eco-communities project showing the various components that will make up the scheme. They are keen to make the visit as informative and enjoyable as possible so will also be organising the following: guided tours in Land Rovers, guided walks, guided mountain bike rides, a chance to sit and capture the panoramic views of St Austell Bay (please bring your own materials).  If you are able to attend they will be open from 10am to 4pm on each day. The entrance is on the left off the A391 past the St Austell Print Works building heading towards Stenalees. If you are unable to attend on these days they will be in St Austell Town Centre on Tues 22nd March 12-8pm.

Malcolm Brown, Town Council, wishes to say Thank you to Dave for all he’s done since becoming Chair and for handling decisions very diplomatically when he joined the Chamber at a very difficult time.

Ann Phillips, The St Austell Arts Centre has written and sung a song about St Austell, which she sang in town last week.  Since this time Ann has been inundated with offers to come and sing on the radio and at various events.  Once the song has been recorded then Ann will let us promote it on our website.  Ann also draws pen and ink drawings of which she will be undertaking the task of drawing local land marks around St Austell and local shops.  If anyone is interested in these drawings then please drop Ann at line at the St Austell Arts Centre.
