Development of Cornish Market World

Development of Cornish Market World

For the last 20 years Stadium Retail Park has been the home of the largest indoor market in the South West.

Originally known as Par Market, and in later years Cornish Market World. In 2007 Town and Country Markets, (the largest independent market operator) took over the operation of the market and the associated family attraction currently known as Kidzworld.

Traditionally the market was open weekends only and 10 other days (usually a Wednesday during the peak tourist season). However in 2013 Town and Country Markets were successful in achieving planning consent for Leisure Retail, a Farm Shop, Extended Kidzworld area, and traditional market, all of which can operate 7 days a week.

Although the market is still very popular, with the site attracting 15,000 visitors per week end, in line with the new planning permissions Town and Country Markets have made a decision to develop the site. The attached document ‘A Bright Vision’ highlights our development plans for the market.

In essence the current market site will have a frontage of retail units (Leisure Retail Operators), and a Farm Shop. All of which operate 7 days a week. A traditional market will also operate 3 or 4 days a week and there will be a community area for local arts, crafts, music and entertainment.

The development is complimentary to any current or future retail offering in St Austell. Retail is based upon bulky goods and equipment which can be purchased and can be easily transferred to customers’ cars in our extensive car parking area. Leisure will be based around the already established and successful Kidzworld, which again does not compete with anything currently on offer in St Austell.

If you would like to know more, Andrew Roberton,  Director of Cornish Market World and Kidzworld, is inviting calls.
