*** Grand Opening - New Artisan Market ***

The Market House launches the first of its artisan indoor markets this Saturday 2nd August, at 9am through to 2pm. The Mayor of St. Austell will officiate at the grand opening and Radio St. Austell Bay will be there to broadcast live from the event.

Over thirty stalls will be selling a wide variety of produce and crafts including award winning sausages, black and hogs pudding, fresh fish brought from Newlyn trawlers, locally produced chutneys and jams, fresh bread, cupcakes and flowers.

Live demonstrations in willow weaving and cupcake decoration together with tasters from the tables will be on offer, whilst upcoming talent Benji will be providing live music to entertain shoppers as they browse.

The Market House offers something for everyone with established retailers offering traditional hand painted furniture, a thriving hairdressing salon, model trains and model aircraft shops among many others. Craft and produce stalls will include soaps and balms, candles, hand-made cards and jewellery, handbags, photography and digital art.

The markets are just one initiative designed to spearhead fund raising for the Market House alongside the recently launched Friends of the Market House scheme. The aim of this is to raise £200,000 match funding necessary in the Market House bid for £2 million pounds worth of Heritage Lottery funding. Visitors to the market will be able to find out more about this scheme and if they wish sign up to help regenerate and preserve this historic building for future generations to enjoy. Alternatively they could call Wendy Earl on 01726 72861.
